Current worldwide state of an emergency has made the spring of 2020 a huge opportunity for cybercriminals. From the malicious actors’ point of view, you could easily say it’s high season and the shop is now open 24/7.
Examples of what we’ve noticed so far:
Unfortunately, cybercriminals are now exploiting our fears and worries and how stressful situations increase the possibility of an error. Added the possible lack of cybersecurity measures of a remote worker makes things even more easier for the cybercriminals.
Cybersecurity is now more important than ever before and we are all responsible:
1) Stay focused on security even though (or especially if) you are working from the comfort of your own home.
2) Keep your computer and other equipment up to date.
3) Be aware of what confidential information you are sharing and to whom.
4) Don’t install or open any applications/attachment that you are not familiar with.
5) Use multifactor authentication to each online service where it is possible.
6) Don’t panic in case of cyberattack. By panicking, you may compromise the digital evidence needed to do forensics and to solve the root cause. Instead, follow your company policy and/or contact your IT support.
Safe and effective remote days for everyone!
