When an organization undergoes several major IT transformations simultaneously, flexibility and responsiveness can free up valuable time for the CIO. Netox now manages not only the basic IT infrastructure and networks for Oy Apotti Ab – a company owned by HUS, the City of Helsinki, and the wellbeing services counties of Vantaa and Kerava – but also support, application, and maintenance services for 710 workstations.
Oy Apotti Ab, responsible for maintaining the Apotti patient information system used by HUS, Helsinki, and wellbeing services counties of Vantaa and Kerava, selected Netox as its IT service partner in late 2024. The four-year agreement is valued at approximately €3 million.
– When operating in areas where privacy and data security are absolutely critical, every part of the system must work seamlessly. At Netox, every service is built with cybersecurity as a foundation. This enables flexible integration into the broader patient information system maintenance ecosystem, says Antti Lahokoski, Lead Consultant at Netox.
The agreement covers Oy Apotti Ab’s basic IT equipment, networks, and services, as well as support, application, and maintenance services for 710 E5-licensed workstations.
– Microsoft 365 is one of the key ongoing service areas where we help manage data securely and enhance productivity with continuously evolving applications, Lahokoski explains.
Netox has won several major clients during 2024 and 2025, yet continues to deliver high-quality services.
– We’ve had multiple large IT projects running simultaneously. Working with Netox has been easy. I’ve been able to simply follow the project’s progress in the steering group without needing to intervene, says Mika Honkanen, CIO of Oy Apotti Ab.
What Enables Netox’s Reliable Delivery?
According to Lahokoski, every expert at Netox is empowered to make decisions that create value for the customer.
This principle is embedded in performance evaluations: Netox assesses employee performance based on customer value. Employees are free to work in their preferred way – as long as it supports value creation.
– With us, there’s no need to stare at tickets and wait for resources to become available. We solve issues immediately because we can prioritize work flexibly. Our experts are encouraged to make decisions independently, without needing executive approval. If we need specialized network infrastructure expertise, we can borrow a specialist from another project to solve the customer’s issue, Lahokoski says.
– And if we don’t have the right resources available quickly enough, we’ll bring in the right person from our partner network, he adds.
Excitement and New Ideas
IT deployment projects often uncover unexpected issues that weren’t anticipated during planning.
Lahokoski emphasizes the importance of identifying which opportunities and challenges should be addressed during deployment and which can be postponed to later development phases.
– It’s common to realize during deployment that certain areas need improvement or that more advanced technologies have become available. Our job is to ensure we offer the best solutions for the actual needs.
– During deployment, the key is to stay on schedule and prioritize what ensures business continuity – without disrupting employees’ work.
Cybersecurity Built into Core IT
Apotti’s core IT services are part of a multi-vendor environment, where third parties provide continuous cybersecurity services.
Netox’s experience in delivering top-tier cybersecurity solutions makes integration into this critical IT infrastructure smoother.
– As an IT service partner, we can strengthen cybersecurity as part of the partner network. Our processes align seamlessly with the highest security classification requirements, Lahokoski says.
What Sets Netox Apart: True Partnership and Agility
According to CIO of Oy Apotti Ab Mika Honkanen, working with Netox has been exceptionally smooth. He highlights Netox’s ability to act as a genuine partner and bring a personal touch to the collaboration. When a problem arises, it’s not hidden behind a ticketing system – the right person is called, and the issue is resolved immediately. This agility and commitment to finding the best solution are evident in everything Netox does.
Honkanen emphasizes that IT services are fundamentally about human collaboration. Netox has proven that the customer truly comes first – even when the organization has only around 400 employees.
– We’ve never felt like we were too small to matter. On the contrary, we’ve received attention and service that clearly surpasses what we had before, Honkanen adds.
He sees Netox’s strength in the combination of agility and well-functioning processes. Decisions can be made quickly without heavy bureaucracy, enabling flexibility and experimentation with new solutions.
– They have the courage to pursue the best possible outcome for the customer. It’s part of their culture – a desire to do things right and ensure the customer’s business continues without disruption.
