Samat Nordic Oy is a logistics company specializing in the transportation of liquid chemicals and gases, operating across Finland, the Nordics, the Baltics, and mainland Europe. Samat Oy’s primary clients are in the forestry, paper, pulp, and chemical industries. The company operates on a 24/7 basis – transportation never stops but continues seamlessly to meet client needs.
Efficiency on the road is critical. Everything, including vehicle terminals and supporting devices, must function without fail. “Our vehicles and personnel are always ready whenever needed,” explains Juha Penttilä, CEO of Samat Nordic Oy.
In addition to logistics and transportation, providing storage solutions is a key part of Samat’s service offering. The company’s tank terminals are located in the ports of Rauma and HaminaKotka.
A longstanding partnership with Netox
Samat’s collaboration with Netox began in 2007, creating a solid history of mutual trust. “We were one of Netox’s first clients, and our long journey together has created a strong bond. We can confidently say we are satisfied customers – our partnership has stood the test of time,” says Penttilä.
Netox provides Samat with a comprehensive IT and cybersecurity package, including networks, firewalls, and data center services. These solutions extend to other Samat Group operations across Europe. With operations in more than 10 countries, the French family-owned company relies on Netox as a critical partner at the corporate level as well.
Support always available
Juha Penttilä highlights Netox’s accessibility as a key strength. “No matter the time of day, we always know where to get help. We have direct contact with the right people and can trust that any issues will be resolved quickly,” Penttilä praises.
This is essential as Samat’s operations run continuously, including weekends and holidays. For example, disruptions in data communication between vehicles and systems can impact the entire operation, making rapid response vital.
Cybersecurity: Continuous improvement for systems and people
The logistics industry constantly faces new challenges in cybersecurity. “Netox plays a critical role in this area. They don’t just react to our needs; they proactively suggest what we should consider and prepare for,” Penttilä says.
The partnership between Samat and Netox is built on trust. Their shared values – openness and reliability – form the foundation of both internal operations and customer relationships.
Netox’s training offerings have been invaluable to Samat. “It’s great that there is a wide range of training available, and the recorded sessions are an excellent addition. If someone cannot attend a session live, they can review the material later or revisit it when needed. Netox’s training approach is accessible and clear,” Penttilä adds.
Balancing technology and people
The transport and logistics sector is rapidly digitalizing, with new technologies like artificial intelligence continuously adding value. Samat has been using vehicle terminals for 20 years, and its enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are constantly evolving. “While technology supports our operations, the core work is still carried out by people. This balance is vital for us,” Penttilä emphasizes.
Order instructions, deliveries, and invoicing are managed entirely electronically. Drivers receive their orders directly to their terminals, and the system provides real-time updates on aspects like work hours and route durations.
Netox has played a crucial role in enabling this development. Thanks to their collaboration, Samat can trust that its IT systems and cybersecurity remain up-to-date – now and into the future.
